Making couscous soup and couscous (steamed semolina) with EasyCook
Making the couscous (2 cups semolina, can use 3):
- 2 cups Semolina
- 3 tbsp Oil (Add more to your liking)
Mix well. Add ½ cup of lukewarm water and stir.
In the EasyCook, pour 3 cups of boiling water and add a leaf of celery, and place the steaming tray on top. Place the semolina on the steaming tray, close the cooker and set it on the steam setting for 20 min.
After 15 minutes, open the cooker and add 1 cup of boiling water, 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of sugar on the semolina and stir lightly. Close the cooker and steam for an additional 5 min.
20 minutes steaming in total.
For grainy semolina, run it through a couscous strainer.
Making the soup:
- 2 Zucchinis, cut
- 2 carrots, cut
- A piece of cabbage, cut
- 1 Celery stalk
- 1 Leek, sliced
- Cooked chickpeas
- A piece of pumpkin, cut

- Potato, cut
- Beef cubes, pre-cooked (optional)
- Fried onion (optional)
- Spices: Salt, Paprika, Cinnamon, Turmeric, Oil, Soup powder, Dry parsley
- Boiling water
Put all the ingredients in the EasyCook pot, set it on the Soup setting for 1 hour.
I used the Soup setting for ½ hour and then changed the temperature to 120*c for 10 minutes and 110 *c for 15 minutes. You can always adjust the temperature and the time to your liking, depending on the amount you make.
Garnish with chopped parsley\cilantro and serve over the semolina.
By the way, the EasyCook has a heat preservation function that starts automatically after the cooking process is over. To finish and turn off the function, press and hold the "Warm/Cancel" button. The cooker will display all the programs, and the heating process will be over.
